Doug Bamford
President - Chief Strategist

Professional Expertise

Doug has thirty-five years of experience as a client and consultant. Throughout his business career, Doug has focused on working with teams to create successful growth strategies in a wide range of industries, including technology, biotech, hospitality, retail, medical, entertainment, insurance, advertising, healthcare, real estate, and nonprofits.

Experience

During his tenure as the chief marketing officer for two regional restaurant chains, Doug was recognized as a marketing innovator at the Marriott Corporation, owner of one of the chains. His marketing programs resulted in double-digit real sales increases during the recession in the early ’80s, winning the organizations the American Marketing Association Company of the Year and the National Promotion of the Year from the National Restaurant Association. His role as CMO included product development, retail design, pricing, advertising, and market research.

In the ’90s, Doug was a growth consultant for international brands like Coca-Cola, Kodak, Holland America, Chateau Ste. Michelle, WordPerfect, AAA, and The Space Needle. His role included facilitating cross-functional groups to create new solutions to old problems and to lead the planning to take advantage of new markets.

Doug and his partner, Dr. Kathryn Bamford, an expert at adult learning and experiential learning, founded Recharge in 1999. Recharge became an innovator around new ways for leadership teams to think creatively about key issues and then involve employees with interactive experiences to align knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors with the new business direction. The approach starts with client information and research but the heart of breakthrough leadership thinking and employee energy and commitment is tapping into client experience, intuition, and the feelings that drive change.
